Support Quebec’s T1D Community: Write to your MNA
Universal access to type 1 diabetes (T1D) technology, like insulin pumps, has been proven to ease the burdens of the disease, improve health outcomes in individuals that use them, and reduce overall healthcare costs. Recognizing these benefits, provinces and territories across Canada have made significant progress in recent years to introduce or expand public access to diabetes technology.
But Quebec has fallen behind.
Quebec is now the only Canadian province to limit public coverage of insulin pumps to people under the age of 18. Under the current Insuling Pump Access Program, anyone diagnosed and/or enrolling in the program after age 18 are not eligible for reimbursement of pumps and accessories, which can cost up to several thousand dollars a year.
That is why Breakthrough T1D is advocating for the expansion of the Insulin Pump Access Program, so that any Quebecer who would benefit from the use of an insulin pump and wants to use one would be eligible for full reimbursement.
Support us and Quebec’s T1D community by writing to your local MNA and sharing with them the importance of diabetes technology and the urgent need to make them publicly accessible!
